Updated plans unveiled for multi-million dollar mall face-lift

BURLINGTON, Vt. —It was standing room only as Burlington Town center owner Don Sinex and his team unveiled the latest plans for the mall’s multi-million-dollar face-lift.

It’s not from an outside a friendly kind of environment, so one of the first things we said was we want to turn the mall inside out,” said architect Sherida Paulsen.

Before the meeting, Sinex was pouring over the project plans he said will revitalize the downtown.

Focusing on creating streetscapes, pedestrian activities and shopping along the streets, Cherry Street and Bank Street, which is relatively dormant at this point in time,” said Sinex.

The updated strategy calls for splitting the mall in half and reconnecting the north and south side of St. Paul Street.

What we’re going to try to do is open up the avenue along St. Paul so it’s continuous movement north-south for pedestrians, cars and light trucks,” Sinex said.
